In
2004/2005 ADCO NORTH successfully completed the installation
of a new Intake Water System at Gjoa Haven. Part of this project
involved the fabrication of two (2) Re-heat Buildings as well
as the Intake Pump House for the Hamlet. The buildings were
pre-fabricated in our ADCO fabrication facility in Edmonton
and then shipped to Hay River where they were ultimately barged
to the Hamlet. Carrying out the prefabrication of the buildings
for this project in the ADCO fabrication shop in Edmonton
dramatically reduced the installation and set up time at the
site. This project also entailed the installation of a 12”
diameter (HDPE) High Density Polyethylene Pipe pipeline, which
ran from the facility out to the lake bottom on Swan Lake.
The pipe was sunk and then anchored to the bottom of the lake
via concrete anchors, and the land portion of the pipeline
involved trenching and backfilling to complete the install.
ADCO is extremely proud of the fact that 100% of the manpower
used on this project was recruited from Gjoa Haven and they
were provided the specialized training required, by our Project
Manager, Ken Nash.
